Chapter 10 -- Unintentional Consequences

The twins' birthday came around.

Denver was first...

Noel second.

Denver grew into a child and took after his father to the hair.

Noel seemed to take most of Tim's facial features. Sitting next to her older brother she thought he looked more like her twin than Denver did.

 Launching into a conversation with him, she soon found out that he wasn't as straight minded as her.

"Remember when I stole candy from you when you were a baby?"

"Don't you have morals Lukas? Gee, you're like a criminal with those ideas."

As the rest of the family came over and sat down to enjoy the cake Lukas got up to leave. He knew he didn't fit in with those do-goodies.

After washing his plate he followed Peaches to have a pillow fight. He couldn't get what his sister said out of his mind... You're like a criminal Lukas.

While his insane brother played with himself, Denver asked his dad to play tag.

Noel preferred to play with her blocks all by herself. She didn't need to get dirty outside or make up an invisible person to have fun.

After being completely whooped by Peaches, Lukas asked for her opinion.

"Do you think I could be a criminal Peaches?"

Peaches just smiled at the thought and waltzed off leaving Lukas to obsess more about the idea.

He imagined being in control of every minion in Brooklyn Heights.

Everyone would bow to his great evilness.

"Yes," he decided, "I will be an Emperor someday."

While their son displayed his evil qualities out loud, his parents fought.

"Maybe if you had been acting like his mother he wouldn't have turned out this strange."

Ignoring his hurtful comments, S stormed off.

Instead of chasing after her and apologizing, he reads Denver a bedtime story.

The next day Gena Goolsby was sent to the Sperie's daycare.

"Gena! I haven't seen you in forever! How are you doing?" Lukas asked, pulling the girl into a hug.

"Oh quite fine now that I'm here. My house is still a mess and my mom's never home but I'm making do."

"Are you going on the field trip tomorrow?" she asked.

"Are you crazy? Of course I am," he responded, giving her a playful shove as she laughed as his joke.

After she left that night, his dad received the news that he had reached the top of his career. He called them square away to announce that he was retiring, even if they didn't give him any pension at all. He would rather stay at home and look after Lukas who was severely worrying him these days.
